Rome Total War Alexander

Below is the starting map showing the location of the settlements

Alexander Total War only has one playable faction

Some buildings do not work the same as the standard RTW campaign.

Differences to main RTW as far as I can see

  • 32 Settlements, so smaller map

  • 100 turns to win

  • One playable faction only

  • No diplomats

  • Cannot recruit merchants

  • Walls do not affect public order

  • Academy does not affect public order

  • 5 enemy factions plus rebels

  • No starting rebel settlements

You will find that you will need to exterminate captured settlements to have funds to build your forces. This is suggested in the campaign advice.

The Persians have a large number of armies they will send to attack you once you take their first few settlements. This does mean that further settlements they control have very few defences, so careful use of your boats can allow you to capture some of them without any resistance.

One settlement, Taxila is cut off from the rest of the Persian settlements and can only be reached by ship. The port for this settlement is such that a road from the settlement does not exist. This feels like the settlement is broken and left as an afterthought. It would have been possible to put the port elsewhere so a road could connect it and create some level of trade.
